Child killed in Hermon house fire

From the State Fire Marshal’s Office:
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says one child has been killed and another seriously injured in a mobile home fire this morning in Hermon. A third child was able to escape the burning home and flagged down motorists to help. The fire was at 292 Wing Road in Hermon and was reported about 7:15 am. The mobile home was occupied by John Parker and Lasey Reidy, who had left the children alone after they got up to do some errands.

Dead is 9 year old Wyatt Parker of Levant, the nephew of Parker, who had spent the night with his two cousins. In critical condition at EMMC is 10 year old Ashlyn Parker, who was rescued from her bedroom by firefighters. Wyatt’s body also was found by firefighters in the living room. The surviving child is 8 year old John Parker. Ashlyn and John are the children of the two adults.

The two parents returned to the mobile home as firefighters were arriving. A team of five Fire Marshal investigators are now trying to pinpoint the cause. They believe the fire started in the kitchen.
