A Bar Harbor man is raising money for a program that supports cancer survivors who are starting their life after the disease. Realtor and Rotarian Jeff Miller tells Star 97.7, he’s raising money for the LiveStrong program at the MDI Y. Miller says “what it’s for is to help cancer survivors get back to their new life, both physically and mentally…I can’t imagine what these people go through.”
LIVESTRONG is free to its participants, and is a 12-week program that combines well-being instruction
with supervised physical activity. It helps cancer survivors reclaim their health, which is important not just for their bodies, but also for their confidence. The program is about the person, not about the cancer. It is about a survivor’s health, not his or her bout with the disease
Miller says he’s raising money as he gets back in shape at the MDI Y to hike 25 miles of the White Mountains with friend, Jim Green, who’s survived cancer. Miller has reached just under half of his goal. The hike will occur on July 28th, weather permitting.
