From Sgt Tim Cotton with the Bangor Police Department:

“On Saturday, 01-21-2017, the body of a male was recovered from the Penobscot River near the former Verso paper mill in Bucksport, Maine. An alert employee of the facility discovered the individual and then notified the Bucksport Police Department.

Officials at Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner today have positively identified the deceased as 29 year-old Paul Francis of Bangor. Frances was known around Bangor by his nickname, “June Bug.”

Francis was reported missing on December 3, 2016. He was last seen walking on Sanford Street in Bangor on December 2, 2016.

Francis was reported to have been exhibiting behaviors of someone that might have been despondent, according to information received by detectives of the Bangor Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.

The Medical Examiner’s Office reports that the cause of death has not been determined pending further studies.

At this time there is no information that indicates that foul play was a factor in the death of Mr. Francis.”
