Bangor Robbery Arrests
(Bangor) – A day after a TD bank teller in Bangor stared a robber in the face, a clerk at the Dollar Tree store on Stillwater Avenue heard a robber demand money. Moments later police had a good description of the getaway car – a gray hatchback with Connecticut plates. A patrol officer spotted it, pulled it over, and slapped handcuffs on 29-year old Seth Blewitt and 30-year old Cara Blewitt. The couple from Oakville, Connecticut is charged with both robberies and held at the Penobscot County jail.
(Arundel) – The attorney general’s office will sort out the facts after a police involved shooting in York County. Deputies responded to an Arundel home early yesterday morning for a domestic disturbance report. When they arrived, 37-year old Chad Dionne started shooting at them. He missed – they didn’t. Dionne is dead. The sheriff did not identify the officers involved.
(Steuben) – A teen-ager from Steuben is back home after her family reported her missing to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities had put out a plea for the public to help find Samantha Korn. Her family reported the 17-year old missing on Sunday and the Sheriff’s Department posted her information on Facebook. The follow up post indicated that Korn was safe, but offered no details on what had happened.
(Mt Desert) – Some vacant property in affluent Northeast Harbor could soon become affordable housing. The Mt Desert Islander reports nonprofit “Mount Desert 365” has purchased the parcels on Neighborhood Road between Maine Street and Manchester Road.. The nonprofit says looks forward to working with the town of Mount Desert to explore options for creating new homes in Northeast Harbor.
(Ellsworth) As tourists pour into Downeast Maine, area bars and restaurants look to increase their staff. For establishments where alcohol is sold it’s important for employers and managers to hire new staff that are familiar with current state liquor laws. Healthy Acadia will offer Responsible Beverage Server and Seller training in Ellsworth on June 14th, and in Bar Harbor on June 19th. Attending the 4-hour course could mean reduced insurance rates for participating businesses. Participants receive a certificate of completion valid for 5 years. (Ellsworth) Volunteers have an incentive to do good and help the environment with raffle prizes up for grabs to help clean up Ellsworth’s Branch Lake public forest. The City of Ellsworth and Frenchmen Bay Conservancy will host a trail cleanup day to prune trail edges, clear downed trees, and update signage. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves, drinking water, sunscreen and bug spray. Eileen Bader Hall at Frenchmen Bay Conservancy asks that you contact her ahead of time to sign up for the volunteer list.
Saco River Boat Crash
(Fryeburg) – A young Fryeburg police officer clings to life after a weekend boat crash left him with severe head trauma. Nathan Desjardins is listed in critical condition at a Lewiston hospital. The crash happened Saturday afternoon on the Saco River in Fryeburg when the boat Desjardins and officer Dale Stout were in hit something in the river. Doctors let Stout out of the hospital yesterday.

- Tiger Woods was arrested for DUI early yesterday morning. Woods says it was an un-expected reaction to a prescription mix and apologized for his actions.
