Milford Robbery

(Milford) – An armed robbery at a Milford store netted the robber an undisclosed amount of cash, and police are still looking for him.  Penobscot County Chief Deputy William Birch reports to Star 97.7 that the man showed a pistol to the store clerk when demanding the money, and fled on foot toward the nearby Henderson Lane Subdivision.  At one point police drew guns and surrounded a home, but the robber was not there.  They’ve asked the public to help with any reports of a man in sweat pants passing through the area.

Head of the Island Crash

(Trenton) – Friday morning’s 3-car crash that tied up traffic coming on and off Mt. Desert Island was likely a result of slowed traffic making room for the law enforcement Special Olympics Torch run.  It happened on the Trenton Bridge when one car rear-ended the vehicle in front of it, pushing that car into a 3rd vehicle.  Traffic was reduced to one lane, which delayed arrival of tow trucks to the scene to clear the bridge.  The mishap caused traffic to be backed up for about 2-hours Friday morning.

Nursing Home Auction

(Penobscot) – The former Penobscot Nursing Home goes up for auction a week from tomorrow.  The owners never received payments when they sold the property to the company that ran the now defunct facility that was taken over and closed by the State Department of Health and Human Services.  The Castine Patriot reports the company that foreclosed on the mortgage likely will end up owning the building and list it for sale by a realtor.
