Ellsworth – Meth



(Ellsworth) – Drug agents found evidence of methamphetamine making in a Bucksport Road home in Ellsworth and have charged two people with drug crimes.  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says it took 36-year old Ryan Miller and 30-year old Jacalyn Canlas to the Hancock County jail after the raid last week.   The Department of Health and Human Services placed children from the home into temporary protective custody.


Belfast Bike Accident

(Belfast) – A 15-year old girl suffered serious injuries after a vehicle hit her bicycle in Belfast yesterday.  WABI-TV reports police have not released her name.  She was riding her bike along Searsport Avenue when the car struck her at about 2:30 in the afternoon yesterday.  Investigators say the car’s driver was not impaired and no charges are filed.


Burnham Fatal

(Burnham) – Driver inexperience may be to blame for a fatal crash in Waldo County during the weekend.  An 18-year old girl died after the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed in Burnham.  Police say a boy was operating the vehicle and only had a learner’s permit.  The crash on the South Horseback Road occurred at about 10-o’clock at night.


Tip A Cop


(Ellsworth) It’s tip a cop night in Ellsworth tonight.  The police department will shed their bullet proof vests and put on aprons to take orders at Pat’s Pizza.  Officer Shawn Merchant says many police officers and their family members will be waiting tables.  Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics. Tonight will be Detective Dotty Small’s last time event with the police department as she retires this Friday.


Monday Music

(Hancock) You can bring a blanket or lawn chair to Tidal Falls Preserve in Hancock this evening and hear local musicians perform – it’s part of Frenchman Bay Conservancy’s Monday Music Concert series. Spokesman Austin Schuver says tonight’s entertainment comes from an Ellsworth band.


Farm Tour

(Penobscot) Blue Hill Heritage Trust will host one of their favorite summer activities this afternoon. Outreach director Chrissy Allen says today’s farm tour is in collaboration with the Blue Hill Food Co-op. The farm tour begins at 3 o’clock today. Cutler Drug Arrests

(Cutler) A traffic stop in Cutler turned up crack cocaine, cash, and sent 4 men in the car to jail on drug changes. Maine drug agents and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies initiated the stop last Thursday on the Cutler Road and searched the vehicle. Police arrested 2 men from the Bronx, one from Florida, and also 55-year-old John Locke of Lubec.



Bangor Drug Arrest

(Bangor) A Bangor man faces numerous drug charges for allegedly selling crack cocaine and heroin at his apartment. Bangor police had been investigating 3-year-old Keith King for several days before showing up at his residence on Bald Mountain Drive last Thursday. During the search police seized 2 semi-automatic handguns, a vehicle, about 22 grams of suspected crack cocaine and about 12 grams of suspected heroin. King was hauled to the Penobscot County Jail.



Drug Conviction

(Newport) A Massachusetts man is convicted of operating an elaborate drug ring that saw a significant amount of heroin distributed in the Newport area. A 4-day trial last week ended with 54-year-old Myron Crosby of Springfield Mass found guilty by a jury for conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to sell a kilogram or more of heroin. Court records say between August 2015 and January 2016 Crosby supplied heroin to co-conspirators in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Newport Maine. He faces between 10-years and life in prison and an $8-million-dollar fine.


MA Boater Death


(Moose Island) The Maine Warden Service says a Massachusetts man died while boating on Moosehead Lake late last week. 66-year-old Robert Hammond of Hanson Mass had been staying at Spencer Bay camps when his boat was found unmanned near Moose Island. Wardens pieced together a time-line and narrowed down his possible locations. Divers recovered Hammond’s body a little before 1 Saturday afternoon. It’s unclear how Hammond ended up in the water.


School Threat Arrest


(Thorndike) A former student from Mount View School is charged with Terrorizing with a Dangerous Weapon for making a threatening post online. The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reports to Star 97.7 they investigated and arrested Kevin Randall. He’s accused of allegedly posting a picture of a gun on social media and writing a threat directed at the school. Randall is out on $500-dollars bail and will see a judge again in September.


Dead Dog

(Rumford) Police say a dog that attacked two teenage girls and their mother in Rumford has been euthanized. The dog got loose on Wednesday and attacked the 17 and 18-year-old sisters. Their mother was bitten when she tried to intervene. A neighbor tackled the dog and police subdued it with a Taster.


Swimmer Killed

(Jefferson) A Camden woman died when a boat struck her as she swam at Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson. Village Soup-dot Com 32-year-old Kristen McKellar was swimming with a friend near a privately owned camp last Thursday. The Maine Warden Service says a Massachusetts man who drove the boat and passengers immediately tried to render aid to McKellar. Many agencies responded to the shoreline but were unable to save her.
