Dedham Biker Dies
(Amity) – A 60-year old man from Dedham was dead at the scene when a neighbor spotted a motorcycle off the road in Aroostook County. Jeffrey Warren apparently lost control of the bike on Route 1 in Amity on Saturday. The man who discovered the bike had gone out to get his mail. When ambulances arrived, Warren was deceased. Police say there was a helmet at the scene, but Warren was apparently not wearing it.
Tip A Cop
(Ellsworth) Members of the Ellsworth Police Department will serve the community this evening in a different capacity. Officers and their spouses will wait tables at Pat’s Pizza on High Street in Ellsworth. All tips will be donated to Special Olympics Maine. The event runs from 4 ‘til 8 tonight.
Wild Blueberry Run
(Machias) The 2019 Machias Wild Blueberry Run is set for August 17th. Race proceeds benefit the Downeast Cancer Patient Navigation Program, which is a service of Healthy Acadia and the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center. Day-of registration begins at 6 AM at the Machias Valley Christian School. The 5-mile race begins at 8, followed by the 1-mile event at 8:15. (Auburn) A judge has ordered a 21-year-old Auburn man held without bail after his arrest stemming for a fatal shooting in a WalMart parking lot. Police charged Gage Dalphonse with murder for the death of 41-year-old Jean Fournier of Turner. Police say Dalphonse shot Fournier twice in the back after an argument on July 27th.
(Unity) – A traffic stop in Waldo County for no front license plate turned up a lot of drugs. State Police say a trooper pulled over 28-year old Elisa Savoy from the Town of Washington in Unity. The trooper got suspicious and called in a drug sniffing dog who found 70-grams of crack cocaine and a bunch of hypodermic needles. Savoy’s passenger, a man from New York State, is charged with drug trafficking. She’s charged, so far, with having an expired vehicle registration.
(Naples) Public safety officials in Naples Maine say a New Hampshire man died in an ATV crash near a camp he owned. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says the crash killed 59-year-old Wayne Jackson, of Loudon, New Hampshire. Naples Rescue was the first to arrive and found Jackson dead from head injuries. Jackson was operating the ATV when it rolled over and landed on top of him. He was not wearing a helmet.
(Hancock) Live entertainment, food and fun await you at Tidal Falls Preserve in Hancock, where Frenchman Bay Conservancy hosts Monday Music each week. Spokeswoman Kelsey Moore says there’s much in store for tonight’s event. Anyone needing handicap parking is asked to flag a parking attendant for assistance.
