(Bar Harbor) – Firefighters took no chances with a rolled over propane truck yesterday in Bar Harbor, closing down part of Route 3 while spraying down the tank and cutting the cab roof off to get the driver out and into an ambulance. The delivery truck tipped over in a driveway on Pine Ridge Road around 12:30 in the afternoon. Firefighters from several towns converged on the scene. A tow truck was able to tip the truck back onto its wheels without any fire or explosion. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Bangor Daily News reports Downeast Wind is working with the Town of Columbia on a 70% property tax reduction. Washington County is working on a similar plan with Downeast Wind for turbines in unorganized territories.

Public health authorities recommend washing hands, getting vaccinated and staying home when ill.
Suspect Found Dead

Authorities say there’s nothing suspicious at the scene and they believe Metayer died from “a medical event.” Metayer was charged with manslaughter and drunk driving after a head-on collision in November that killed two people. State Police wrote in an affidavit that Metayer confessed to having three drinks and smelled of alcohol. Metayer’s blood-alcohol was twice the legal limit when tested.

Suspect Punches Trooper
(Hollis) A Hollis woman faces numerous charges after a run-in with state troopers early Wednesday. Maine State troopers responded to the report of a woman using a pipe to break her ex-boyfriend’s truck windshield. The woman left the scene before police arrived so troopers went to her house. They say 29-year-old Sharleen Hoffman and others in the home were uncooperative. Hoffman allegedly punched her mother and a state trooper in the face. She was put in handcuffs and placed in the back of a cruiser but she fled while troopers were interviewing witnesses. Police captured Hoffman again and say she continued to be uncooperative and violent at the York County Jail.
