Tickets are now available for the Acadia Choral Society’s Spring Concert on May 8 at 3 pm at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church in Bar Harbor.
This is an exciting year for the chorus and for Acadia National Park, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The concert celebrates the park, nature and humankind’s relationship to our planet. The highlight is George Emlen’s “Song of Acadia,” commissioned for this occasion. Mr. Emlen says of this work, “I wrote my text as I sat on Pemetic Mountain recently and was greatly inspired. This is the voice of the island speaking to us, and we, the chorus, are singing the words that the island speaks to us.”
Tickets are $15 and are available at Sherman’s Books and Stationery and Fiore Artisan Olive Oils and Vinegars (both in Bar Harbor), the Northeast Harbor Library, the Southwest Harbor Public Library and the SevenArts gallery in Ellsworth. Tickets are also available from chorus members.
