Bath Murder/Suicide

 

(Bath) – Three people are dead after a murder suicide incident in Bath yesterday morning.  State Police spokeswoman Shannon Moss reports to Star 97.7 police in Bath responded to a shooting at a Crawford Drive home at 7-o’clock yesterday morning.  They found 58-year old Lisa Bailey and her 32-year old daughter Jennifer dead inside.  The shooter, 66-year old Michael Bailey was found dead inside the house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  He was married to Lisa and the father of Jennifer.  Authorities have not said what led to the shooting.

 

Police Shooting

 

(Stonington) – A weekend police shooting in Stonington has left a 35-year-old man wounded, but he’s expected to recover.  The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department reports to Star 97.7 that it started with a 9-1-1 call to Weed Field Road where Erik-Thor Himpler was reported to be trying to set fire to the house he and his mother shared.  When Deputy John Stanley ordered Himpler to stop, he pulled a gun from his waistband.  Stanley shot and wounded Himpler and rendered first aid until an ambulance could take Himpler to a Bangor hospital.  The Attorney General’s office will investigate, and Deputy Stanley is on administrative leave.

 

PERC / EPEC Fire

 

(Orrington) – Air samples collected late last week in Orrington and Hampden show the smoke from the trash fire at the former PERC plant in Orrington does not raise exposure concerns, and they took down the air alert issued earlier in the week.  The fire destroyed the building in which a 40-foot pile of trash was stored.  That pile continues to smolder, and firefighters will pull the pile apart to get to the heat source.  Eagle Point Energy Center officials say the blaze was not fatal to their plan to reopen the plant, and they’ll begin rebuilding later this year.  That part of the plant was not insured.

 

Contractor Arrested

 

(Augusta) – At least 10-people filed complaints with Maine police about a Waldo County contractor arrested for writing bad checks.  Jake Brown of Palermo is accused of taking money up front and then doing poor work or not finishing jobs he had agreed to perform.  The Bangor Daily News reports another 15 Maine people reached out to reporters to complaint about Brown and his business JBRH Excavation and Welding Fabrication.  Hundreds more in North Dakota reported similar issues.

 

Power Outage Planned

 

(Dedham) – The power will be out for a couple of hours for residents of several roads in Dedham.  Versant Power says they’ll cut the electricity beginning at 8:30 this morning.  Customers will experience the outage on Craig Rd., Hemlock Rd., Lodge Rd., Sunset Rd., Bay Willow Dr., Cliff Mount Rd., Larkspur Rd., Norwood Rd., Orpin Rd.

 

Holden Arrest

 

(Holden) –An early morning incident in Holden ended without injury and a 32-year-old man is in jail, charged with domestic violence assault.  The Holden Police Department reports they responded to Eastern Avenue at 1:35 Saturday morning and found Wilbur Corson was inside a home and refusing to come out.  They called in help from the Brewer Police Department and the State Police Tactical Team which managed to arrest Wilbur without incident.  Officers took him to the Penobscot County Jail.

 

Restaurant Closes

 

(Yarmouth) – One of the more recognizable restaurants on the coast of Maine says staffing shortage and food costs have forced them to close and put the restaurant up for sale.  The Muddy Rudder on Route 1 in Yarmouth posted that it was closing immediately.  The owners said the decision breaks their hearts.  The building is up for sale for $1-point-4 million dollars.

 

Rockport Stabbing

 

(Rockport) – A Knox County man is charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing in Rockport.  The Midcoast Villager reports 46-year-old William Doniel of Union was riding with the victim and had consumed a large amount of alcohol before the stabbing that left the victim with a deep knife wound in his back.  The victim also suffered a stab wound to the stomach.  Investigators say the wounds were not life threatening.  Doniel is held on $50-thousand dollars bail.
