2015 ARTIST RETREAT AT SCHOODIC INSTITUTE
WEEK-LONG WORKSHOP CONNECTING ART TO NATURAL ELEMENTS
WINTER HARBOR – Autumn colors and maritime ecology – waves, rocks, clouds and trees – are the
focus of this year’s Artist Retreat, October 17-25.

Designed to give participants of all levels ample time to create, rejuvenate and collaborate, the
week-long retreat offers artists the opportunity to be inspired on the rocky shore and in the rich
maritime forests of Acadia National Park.
Three master artists – Jana Matusz, JoAnn Pippin and Michael Boardman – will share their unique skills in various art mediums – plein air, watercolor and illustration, respectively – during the first three days of the retreat, allowing participants opportunity to explore and further develop the skills learned in the remaining days.
“ I am very excited to be participating in the Schoodic Artist Retreat because I believe there is a lot of
inspiration to be gained from the rugged yet quiet beauty of the area, the association and exchange of
ideas with other professional artists, and the opportunity to learn more about what I see from the
ranger/experts that know the environment,” said JoAnn Pippin.
“It’s perfect for artists of any level, working in any media who want a creative getaway. The Schoodic
Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and it’s a great place to paint. You’ll be
inspired by rugged nature, lively seas, stunning geology, and wonderful fall colors and light,” added
Jana Matusz.
Registration for the retreat is still open and beginners are welcome.
