Star Wars celebration at the Criterion Theatre

The force reawakens at the 1932 Criterion Theatre this December.

The Criterion Theatre is Hancock County’s sole venue and lone early premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 17 at 7 p.m. In honor of the cinematic sagas,  the theater is preparing for a multi-day celebration of Star Wars events as it marches towards the official premiere December 18 at 7 p.m. when a costume parade and celebration will premiere the movie’s showing.

“The Criterion Theatre is beyond excited to work within the community to celebrate a new era of cinematic Star Wars here in Bar Harbor this December,” said Steven Boucher, board member and the event’s committee chairman.

All the Star Wars movies will play for consecutive nights beginning December 11. At the same time, the Criterion plans a host of supplementary events  and activities to celebrate the universe of Sith and Jedi. From costume contests to trivia nights, from Cantina drinks and atmosphere, to photo booths, music, fan art contests, memorabilia and a Jedi Light Saber Academy with a real Jedi Master fencing instructor, it’s going a whole new universe in Bar Harbor!
