Ellsworth Fire Department Open House

The Ellsworth Fire Department will be holding an open house Saturday October 17th. From 10AM-2PM at the Ellsworth Fire Station. The Ellsworth Fire Department will have equipment on display as well as a fire extinguisher trainer and fun activities for the children. There will also be fire prevention handouts along with light refreshments provided.

October is Fire Prevention Month. This year the Ellsworth Fire Department is encouraging residents to have working smoke alarms and home escape plans in case of an emergency. Smoke alarms should be located on all levels of the home as well as inside and outside sleeping areas. They should be tested monthly and have the batteries replaced twice a year. When you change your clocks, change your batteries. Home escape plans should include two ways out of each room, clear exit ways to the outside and a safe meeting place so all can be accounted for. Let’s plan now for the emergency that none of us hopes happens.
