Ground Hog Dance in Blue Hill
February 1 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Event Navigation
On Groundhog Day’s Eve Sat, Feb. 1, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. dance in the stacks to the glorious sounds of local legends, The Soul Benders, with special guests MaiaLizCrazy, at the Blue Hill Public Library.
There will be festive dessert offerings and a raffle with unique prizes. New this year, there will be a cash bar and a Wallace & Gromit movie upstairs—with popcorn!—for the young and young at heart.
Admission is $20 per person, or $50 per household. Optional benefactor tickets are also available for $50 and $100 and will help make this fundraising event a success as well as guarantee those ticket-holders a place in Groundhog Heaven (you’ll even get a certificate!). Tickets can be purchased in advance at the circulation desk or online on www.bhpl.net—or at the door for $5 more. All proceeds benefit the library.
This is a family-friendly event, and costumes are not only welcome but encouraged! Come dressed as a groundhog, don a top hat, or put on your best winter or spring finery. Everyone is invited to add to their costumes with special groundhog-themed props in the photobooth and take selfies (photos can be emailed or texted). Celebrate the early arrival of spring—or brace yourself for six more weeks of snow, ice, and hibernation—at the library! For more information, please call the library at 374-5515.
