
Beth C Wright Ride for Life

The 12th Annual Beth C. Wright Ride for Life to benefit the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center will take place on Saturday, Sept 10, on the Blue Hill Peninsula. Starting at the Surry Elementary School, bicycle riders of all ages and levels are invited to ride the 8-mile, 20-mile, 50-mile or 100-mile rides. All rides provide a fabulous view of the coast.
For those who do not ride but would like to support the Beth Wright Center, there will be a hike at the Patten Stream Preserve in Surry. This 1.5-mile moderate hike is perfect for all ages, from young children to mature adults.
Start times are: Registration at the Surry Elementary School 7:30 a.m., 100-mile ride at 8, 50-mile ride at 9, registration for 8-mile at 9 at Newbury Neck Beach, 10 a.m. start of 8-mile and 20-mile rides. For the hike, registration is 9:30 at the site on Warren Lane, near the Surry post office, with the hike starting at 10.
All participants are invited to return to the school for a barbecue lunch. Also new this year is a Bike Rodeo at the Surry town office parking lot starting from noon-3 for grade school-age children.
