“Apple Whisperer” Talk in Blue Hill

On Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., the Halcyon Grange will host Maine pomologist John Bunker for the second talk in its winter educational series.

Known to many as the “apple whisperer” and as a self-described fruit explorer, Bunker has criss-crossed the state of Maine looking up old-timers who might have an interesting tree or a bit of information about a lost variety of apple. He tracks down rare and unusual fruit varieties to save and reintroduce in Maine. This free program is sponsored by the Halcyon Grange, which is located at 1157 Pleasant St. in North Blue Hill. The Grange will provide light refreshments. All are welcome.
