Back 2 School Smiles, Free Dental Clinic

Caring Hands of Maine Dental Center will be sponsoring its 6th annual “Back 2 School Smiles” Day on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at their Dental Center in Ellsworth.  This program increases awareness of the importance of kid’s oral health and directly helps children in the community start the school year off with a positive change.  The event is a FREE day of full dental care the first month of each school year.  Care is provided by a great team of volunteers from across the state — dentists, specialists, hygienists, assistants, students, and general volunteers — that make the event possible.  Each year information about the clinic is sent to the area school nurses and other childcare organizations to help identify kids in need.  The program is aimed at treating kids who DO NOT have Mainecare [Medicaid] since they have benefits every day of the year, but rather it’s looking to treat kids who do NOT have an existing dental home and do not have dental insurance.
