Castine Community Health Services, (CCHS) a department of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, announces a weight management class beginning on Thursday, April 23. The class will meet every Thursday for eight weeks, ending on June 11, 2015. The meetings will be held at CCHS from 4:30– 6:00 pm. The class will be facilitated by Gordana Hassett, LCSW, CADC and Raeann Hodgson, RN.
The weekly class is designed to help people learn how to manage their weight effectively. “Participants will not only learn how to control their weight with proper nutrition and exercise, but also discover why this has become a big problem for them,” explains Gordana Hassett, LCSW. “One of the key concepts that we will address is emotional eating, which refers to our strong tendency to use food as a coping strategy to deal with difficult emotions.” Participants will learn helpful techniques how to lose and maintain their ideal weight by finding balance between their physical and emotional well-being.
The class is open to all community members. Interested participants should contact their primary care provider for a referral, or for more information, call Castine Community Health Services at 326-4348.
