Beef and lamb meatballs with yogurt dill sauce, goat cheese and black olives in phyllo cups and eggplant tomato garlic spread with pita chips kick off Friends in Action’s second Dinner & Auction starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Moore Community Center in Ellsworth. The benefit dinner begins with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and the silent auction at 5 p.m. Moroccan cuisine is the theme of this year’s dinner orchestrated by chef Mark Swartzbaugh and sous chefs/Friends volunteers Joyce Snow and Lola Hosler. Besides the appetizers, the menu includes chicken tagine simmered with olives and preserved lemons, and couscous. A tangerine cake will cap the meal that costs $60 per person. Jazz musicians Hugh Bowden and John Gallagher will provide music.
