In honor of Earth Day, members of the Ellsworth Green Action Team (EGAT) are encouraging city residents to get outside and do some roadside cleanup starting now through April 28th.
This will not be a group event and participants are asked to abide by social distancing guidelines.
Participants should use their own trash bags and be careful not to pack them too heavily. The trash can be disposed of with household trash on your normal roadside pickup day (Mon/Tues) or be taken to the transfer station (now open Tues/Fri/Sat). Trash stickers are not needed. The city has suspended its pay-as-you-throw program through the end of the month.
Organizers remind volunteers to wear bright colors and practice good traffic safety. Don’t pick up broken glass, dirty needles or any other potentially dangerous debris. Wear boots, long pants tucked into your socks to avoid ticks and gloves to protect your hands.
