Event Navigation
A family-friendly, “old fashioned” Fourth of July day celebration in Castine starts early with a 5K race, followed by a children’s costume parade on the town common. The fun continues with potato sack races, a tug of war, feats of human strength and a dunk tank benefiting local charities. Concerts on the green happen in the afternoon. At nightfall, there is a concert on the town dock followed by fireworks on the harbor.
For the active-minded, who want an up-close view of the fireworks display, guided kayak tours are available. Cruises around the harbor also offer a mariner’s perspective of the evening light show. For more information on the day’s activities, visit www.castine.me.us.
