The Union River, which flows through the center of Ellsworth, is in the midst of a major dam relicensing. Since its construction in 1907, the 66-foot-high Leonard Lake dam has posed a major barrier to migrating fish in the 500-square-mile watershed. Join the Downeast Salmon Federation’s executive director, Dwayne Shaw, in taking a look at the historic use of the Union River and what possibilities remain for the future in a talk at the Ellsworth Public Library on Wednesday, Sept 28, at 6 pm.
The program is part of the Downtown Ellsworth Association’s series of public forums to inform people about issues facing the community. All are welcome to attend.
