In light of the cancellation of the Taste of the Peninsula, a group in Blue
Hill will continue the tradition of a Fall celebration. The Peninsula
Harvest Festival will take place on Saturday, October 17th from 10:30am –
3:00pm at Mainescape Garden Shop in Blue Hill. The group includes
Mainescape, the Blue Hill Heritage Trust and several community members, with
assistance from the Chamber of Commerce. Because of the success of the Taste
of the Peninsula over the past several years, it seemed essential to carry
on with an “end-of-season” festival. This will be a vendor driven event
celebrating local farms, local food & drink, and local artisans.
The Peninsula Harvest Festival will be the official kick off to the Winter
Farmers Market, organized by David’s Folly Farm, which is held every
Saturday at Mainescape from 9:30am-Noon mid-October through mid-May. The
festival will host additional local food & beverage vendors, artisans, live
music, and a scarecrow contest. Participants in the contest can start
bringing their scarecrows into Mainescape on Friday, October 9th. Judges
will award prizes on Saturday the 17th for Scariest, Funniest, and People’s
Choice.
Admission is free and all are invited! It is our way of saying “Thank You!”
to the community that supports our local economy year round.
If you would like to be a vendor, the fee for a booth space is $10(outside)
or $25(inside). Please contact Althea at Mainescape by Saturday, October
10th to sign up.
