The Mount Desert Island Historical Society invites the public to a forum on local invasive species, presented by botanist, educator and park ranger David Donovan on Monday, Sept 14, from noon to 1 pm at the Sound School House, 373 Sound Drive in Mount Desert. Donovan will talk about some of the non-native flora and fauna that have come to occupy MDI and neighboring islands. These include purple loosestrife, the Asian long-horned beetle and the emerald ash borer, among others. The forum is free and open to the public. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged.
