October 17, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Ellsworth Historical Society will be having an Open House at the Historic Chamberlain House History Center at 357 State Street in Ellsworth Falls on October 17th from 1:00-4:00.  The House was donated to the Historical Society last year by the Lawrence Family of Tradewinds.   With help and donations from local businesses and the community the society has been restoring the rooms and would like to share what has been done with our community.  All are invited to attend and see what we have accomplished so far.  There is still allot of work left to do and need volunteers and donations to complete the projects such as painting, adding heat to the dining room, adding a wheelchair ramp access, downstairs powder room. electrical repairs, and restoration.

The Chamberlain House was built for John Chamberlain and his wife Mary Hopkins and they raised a large family in the home.  Later is was owned by the Davis family who lived in the house for many years and many in our community are related to the Davis family and have memories of the home.  Most recently the house was owned by Dr Richard Whitney who had his dental practice there and we have heard many stories from folks who visited the house and Dr Whitney.
We hope to see everyone on Oct 17th and share the house, memories and refreshments and hear many more stories of the house from our community.  For more information please contact Terri  Weed Cormier at 667-8235 or email us at ellsworthhistoricalsociety
