Pumpkin carving, storytelling and more await kids at the Southwest Harbor Public Library.
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m., the library will offer pumpkin carving. Pumpkins and tools will be provided while supplies last, or bring your own. Artist Mike Duffy will be on hand to offer carving tips. He will also create a spectacular Jack-0-Lantern that will be raffled that night to benefit the library. Local musicians will provide live music, open mike style, during the afternoon.
Then at 6:30, the Barn Arts Collective will present a program of Halloween fun for all ages. Bring your costume, your creativity and your little ones as the library hosts an interactive, musical celebration of the holiday’s classic characters. At 7, fifth-graders and older are invited to participate in a scary scavenger hunt of performances from the twisted world of Edgar Allan Poe. At the same time the party moves outside to the library’s front lawn, where the whole family can enjoy popcorn, hot cider and a rockin’ dance party! Jack-0-Lanterns created during the day will be blazing on the stone wall in front of the library.
