The Oct 14 meeting of the Surry Garden Club will feature a presentation by Glen Rea of the Maine Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation. One of the goals of the foundation is to restore the American chestnut tree to a place of ecological and economic importance and self-sustainability throughout the original range of the chestnut in Maine. The meeting is scheduled for 7 pm at the Rural Hall on the Surry Road (Route 172). All are welcome. Light refreshments will follow the presentation.
