Talk on Salmon’s Decline at Southwest Harbor Public Library

  • This event has passed.

November 17, 2015 @ 5:30 pm

Kyle Winslow, hatchery supervisor of the Downeast Salmon Federation, will be at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Tuesday, Nov 17, at 5:30 pm to discuss the approach being taken to rear and stock juvenile Atlantic salmon at the East Machias Aquatic Research Center. The purpose of this project is to restore the population of salmon to the East Machias River.

At one time, Maine’s rivers were active with salmon returning home from ocean waters to spawn; now there is a quiet absence. Maine currently has the last remaining populations of wild Atlantic salmon in the United States.

Seating for this talk is limited, and reservations are required. For more information, call the library at 244-7065.
