It comes as no surprise that requests for fuel assistance are up. WAY up! The Washington Hancock Community Agency’s “THAW” program (The Heating and Warmth Fund) was established just FOR fuel assistance. It runs 100 percent on public donations and currently has very little money in reserve to help local needy families. If you’d like to help, make your check payable to the THAW FUND and send it WHCA, 248 Bucksport Road, Ellsworth. For more info, WHCA at 664-2424.
