The Grand’s Disney’s Mary Poppins Is Holding Auditions in August

The Grand is excited to remind everyone that the auditions for its new production of the Broadway hit Disney’s Mary Poppins, will be held Friday, August 7 from 6 pm- 8 pm, and Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9 from 1 pm – 4 pm. The production runs October 16 through November 1, 2015.
Disney’s Mary Poppins is the first Grand live theatrical production since its smash hit Monty Python’s Spamalot. The returning production team includes Artistic Director (and long-time Grand collaborator) Ken Stack with stage direction by Michael Weinstein (director of last year’s production of Spamalot) joining a newcomer to The Grand’s productions, Music Director Dana Ross. This live presentation of the beloved Disney musical adaptation of P.L. Travers’ character gives local performers the opportunity to play such classic characters as Bert the Chimney Sweep, Uncle Albert and, of course, Mary Poppins herself. Mary Poppins contains such whimsical, yet hummable, songs as “Chim Chim Cheree,” “A Spoonful of Sugar,” and, of course, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ”.
Anyone interested in auditioning should be ready to do a brief dance combo taught at the audition so be dressed comfortably to move. Potential performers should also prepare a song, but the song needn’t be from the show. There will be someone available to play the piano if you bring sheet music. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script and a British dialect is strongly encouraged. There are several available principle roles as well as chorus roles and there are roles available for both children and adults. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
