On Thursday, June 23, at 6 pm there will be a historical “journey” of the Bar Harbor Express and the Green Mountain Cog Railway, which once ran up the slope of Cadillac Mountain. George Barrett, railroad historian and longtime board member of the Boothbay Railway Village, will give a slide presentation at the Ellsworth Public Library detailing the history of railroads in the Mount Desert Island area and how they interacted with other forms of transportation affecting the development of Acadia National Park as well as other areas of Hancock County.
