
Veterans’ Event Brings Resources and Veterans Together

The Washington Hancock Community Agency’s Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program will host a Veterans’ Resource Fair on Saturday, May 16th at the VFW Post 109 on 419 Main Street, Ellsworth. The event will be open from 10 am to 2 pm, and will offer active duty, retired, guard, and reserves from all military services the opportunity to ask questions about services that are available to them. Representatives from a wide array of national, state, and local organizations will be on hand to talk to veterans and their families and to share information and answer questions.
Veterans who attend the event will be able to get help with Veterans benefit questions and enrollment, VA Healthcare, housing assistance, legal assistance, mental health and substance abuse prevention, job search tips, transportation, homelessness prevention, and more. Various legislative representatives and candidates will also be attending the event to listen to veteran’s concerns and issues.
There will be door prizes and free admission and refreshments at the event. Limited transportation opportunities are available for those interested to attend who will require a ride. Arrangements can be made by calling Lucy Barnhart at 610-5937 before 4:00 pm on Friday, May 8th.
