WCCP Sponsors Children’s Parade and Entertainment

The Machias Wild Blueberry Festival, held annually in August, provides the opportunity for the Washington County Children’s Program (WCCP) to host the annual free Children’s Parade and Entertainment. This is a foot parade for children of all ages. This parade is a wonderful occasion to celebrate children and let them be the stars of the day!
Children of all ages are welcome to join us for this casual parade on Friday, August 14, 2015 for the kickoff of the Festival weekend. The parade lines up at Machias Valley Baptist Church at 5:45 and begins at 6:00. Children are encouraged to dress up for the parade if they wish and children’s groups are welcome to carry banners. WCCP staff members will be handing out blue balloons to the children. The parade will feature a Grand Marshal, Bruce the Moose on board WCCP’s Tooth Ferry and music. Tricycles, wagons, doll carriages, and strollers are all welcome. No motorized vehicles other than those approved by WCCP prior to the event are allowed. The parade will be canceled if it rains.
After the parade the fun continues as the Washington County Children’s Program, a program of Sunrise Opportunities invites the community to be entertained at the Performing Arts Center at the University of Maine at Machias. This year’s entertainment includes “Field of Gravity” at the Performing Arts Center at the University of Maine at Machias. Performer Zach Field of Bangor will perform his juggling and acrobatic show. Admission is free.
