Ed Hawkes, a master bird carver from Bar Harbor, will conduct a wood carving workshop at the Schoodic Institute in Winter Harbor on Sunday, Feb 28, from 1 to 5 pm. Join Ed as he demonstrates how a raw piece of wood becomes a feather pin. Participants will receive a feather blank (natural, pre-shaped, unpainted) and learn how to create a replica of a real bird feather. This class is for adults and children ages 12 and up. Paints will be used, so participants may wish to bring an old shirt. If you have an old hairdryer available, feel free to bring it to help dry paint. All other equipment is provided. The cost of the workshop is $40. For more information, call Michelle at 288-1356.
