Ellsworth Library patrons can get their overdue fines forgiven by donating an equal value of non-perishable food items through the Food for Fines program, through the month of December. The Emmaus Center plans to put together Christmas Food Baskets consisting of turkey, stuffing, gravy, canned vegetables, potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie. The Simmering Pot – A Community-created Supper provides a free delicious meal every Monday at the First Congregational Church in Blue Hill. The next meal is on Dec 14 from 2:30 to 6 pm. Meals are available to eat in or take out. There is no charge, but donations are accepted. Info: 374-2891.
