The Ellsworth Concert Band performs on Wednesday, July 12 at 7 at the gazebo at the Union River Harbor Park in Ellsworth. There are plenty of picnic tables for sitting or you can bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the grass. Concert rehearsals will run before each performance at 6 pm.

Magician Conjuring Carroll will visit the Henry D. Moore Library and Community Center in Steuben at 10 am on Wednesday, July 12. He will present a new children’s magic show called “Building Blocks,” based upon reading, strengths and values. Admission is free. Pies and quiches will be sold at the Somesville Union Meeting House starting at noon on Wednesday, July 12. The sale will run until supplies are gone. The church is located at 1136 Main Street, Route 102.

Children’s author and illustrator Rebekah Raye will lead a writing and illustration workshop on Wednesday, July 12 at 1 pm at the Frenchman Bay Library in Sullivan. The workshop is free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 422-2307.

Tea Time Tour happens on Wednesday, July 12 from 3 to 4 pm in Ellsworth. Enjoy a staff-led tour and tea and cookies on the lawn at the Woodlawn Museum, weather permitting, and in the Sleigh Barn on rainy days. David T. Ellwood will be doing a program called “Reclaiming the American Dream: Achieving Real Mobility from Poverty” at the Winter Harbor Public Library on Wednesday, July 12 at 4:30 pm. Ellwood, author of “Poor Support,” is one of the nation’s leading scholars on poverty and welfare. For more information, call the library at 963-7556.

The Cherryfield Congregational Church is hosting a turkey dinner on Wednesday, July 12 at 5:30 pm. Doors open at 5. Admission is $9 for adults and $4 for children.

The Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will be performing “The Legend of the Banana Kid” at the Ellsworth Public Library on Wednesday, July 12 at 6 pm. This show features 20 hand-crafted glove, mouth and rod puppets and a slew of flying and twirling styrofoam bananas. For more information, call the library at 667-6363.

A nature program “Tidepool Treasures” will happen on Wednesday, July 12 at 6:30 pm at Woodlawn Museum in Ellsworth. Nature programs are free and open to the public.
