Turkey Shoots in Waltham
The Waltham-Eastbrook Youth Association is holding turkey shoots every Sunday in October from 10 to noon at the shooting range off Route 200 in Waltham. Shooting is at paper targets, with frozen turkeys going to the winner of each of the 15 events. Proceeds go to the Association’s local scholarship fund. For more info, call 584-3000.

The Town of Surry wants to recognize citizens who have recently passed away or moved on from the community, and they’ll be doing it at an event this Sunday (10/3) called “Passages”. Residents are invited to gather at the Osgood Ball Field on the Murphy Road at 2 pm, when these former residents will be named and honored. Rain date is October 17th.

The free meal service, "Everybody Eats" is open every Monday afternoon for take-out only. It’s located at St. Dunstan’s Church on State St. in Ellsworth, and the operating hours are 2:30 to 4 PM each Monday.

The Northeast Harbor Library has a special book sale room located in their basement. All kinds of books, audios, and DVDs and a “collector’s shelf” for all ages. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5 p.m.

All are welcome at “The Joys of Thrift” to share ideas on how to cut costs, increase savings, repurpose, live simply and make living below your means a joyful way of life. The Ellsworth Fire Department is having an Open House on Sat Oct 9 from 10 to 2 pm. The Darling's Ice Cream Truck will be there from 10 to Noon along with Star97.7 doing a live remote from 10 to 1 pm. All funds raised from the ice cream truck will be donated to the Bobby Dorr Memorial Scholarship. There is no admission fee for the open house. Come one and all!
