This Friday (7/16), the public’s invited to the Franklin Veterans Club 8-Dollar Meal, featuring hand-pressed burgers with baked beans, coleslaw, and dessert. Dinner is served starting at 5:00, followed by Trivia with Kevin and Kim Jones at 7pm.

The Milbridge Theater Outdoor Stage presents Whiskey Bent in concert, Friday night, July 16th, at the Milbridge Town Marina Waterfront. Open house starts at 5:30pm, and the free music gets underway at 6:30. Rain date is Sunday the 18th.

Maine Audubon has begun gearing up for the Maine Annual Loon Count, and they’d like assistance. The loon count is scheduled for Saturday, July 17th from 7 to 7:30 am, on more than 300 lakes across the state. Loon counters include all ages. The Ark Animal Shelter is holding its next bottle drive & bake sale Saturday, July 17th from 9:00 to 1:00 at The Franklin Veterans Club. There will also be a Hot Dog Lunch from 11:00 to 1:00, by Donation Only! The Ark's new mascot "Arkie" will be handing out treat bags to children and dog biscuits for your furry friends.

The Bar Harbor Garden Club presents a tour of 6 beautiful gardens with spectacular views of Frenchman’s Bay and the Porcupine Islands. The tour will be held on Saturday, July 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Rain or Shine. Included in the ticket price of $35 is free, easily accessible parking with Oli’s Trolley shuttle to our Headquarters and Marketplace at the Bar Harbor YMCA. The 4th Annual Tea & Silent Auction is scheduled for Sat July 17 from 2 to 4 pm at the Surry School gymnasium. Tickets are $20/adults, $10/child and available at the Surry Town Office and at the door on the 17th. Musicians from the Monteaux School will provide entertainment. This event supports the Backpack Program which provides eligible students with food for the weekend for the whole year.

Stockton Harbor Days is taking place Friday and Saturday, July 23rd and 24th. Sponsored by the Stockton Springs Community Builders, Friday the 23rd there’ll be a free street dance from 7 to 10 with music dj’d by the *Treblemakers.* Saturday, the 24th from 11 to 3 at Stockton Springs Harbor, there'll be free sailing, kayaking, and kids’ lobster boat rides.
