The Ellsworth Free Medical Clinic at the Mill Mall in Ellsworth is giving FREE flu shots for all adults through November 30th. There is no appointment necessary – all you do is walk in! The Franklin Veterans Club continues to hold its $8 Friday meals each Friday at 5 pm. These are a different meal cooked by volunteers each week and is first come, first served until the food is gone. Sheriff Scott Kane tells us that on Saturday October 24, there will be a Drug Take Back Day in the parking lot of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce between 9 and 1 pm. Due to COVID-19, Women for Healthy Rural Living’s annual Downeast Roots Festival will instead present a series of workshops in 2020. Women for Healthy Rural Living’s annual Downeast Roots Festival will present an online workshop on Sun Oct 25 from noon to 1:30 pm. This event is about food preservation. Participants will make a jar of fermented cabbage and learn what conditions help garden veggies keep through winter. The workshop is limited to 10 households, up to 25 participants.
