Volunteer Drivers Needed in NE Harbor
Island Connections is currently extending its search for new volunteer drivers to drive “neighbors” to doctors’ appointments and other life-enhancing and necessary activities. If you have an hour a week or more to offer, please attend the next “Joy Riding” event on Thursday, Oct 1, at 11 am at Colonel’s, 143 Main St. in Northeast Harbor. The Old Surry Village School will reopen to the public on two Saturdays in October, the 10th and 17th from 9 to 2 pm. All are welcome to drop by the old school to see what’s new. Now an official national historic landmark, this 1872 structure is one of the rare surviving two-room schoolhouses in Maine. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available.
