Roger Angell Day in Brooklin
Friend Memorial Library has designated Sat, Aug 8, as Roger Angell Day in celebration of his 100th birthday. The author, essayist and The New Yorker magazine baseball reporter and fiction editor has been a longtime summer resident of Brooklin. The event will be held outside on the library grounds from 10:45 am to 11:30 am. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks will be required. The Searsport United Methodist Church on Main Street is holding another summertime "Thanksgiving-style" turkey supper this Saturday the 8th in the church vestry from 4 to 6. The Cherryfield Congregational Church, located on River Road, Cherryfield, is holding a drive-through/takeout roast turkey supper on Wednesday, Aug 12 from 5 to 6 pm. Enter the driveway on right (north) side of the church, then continue up and around church to place and pick up your order at the door at the bottom of the hill on the south side. The cost is $10 per meal.

The Winter Harbor Music Festival presents “Mask-erade” at 6 pm on Wed Aug 12 at the Gouldsboro Town Park. This program will be modeled on an 18th century masquerade like Carnivale in Venice. The idea is to incorporate a pandemic appropriate face-covering into the costume so people who might not be comfortable wearing a mask would feel more at home in it.
