The Kindness Food Programs of Searsport are holding a Food Drive this Saturday, July 4th from Noon to 3:00 PM in the parking lot at Hamilton Marine on Route 1 in Searsport. Bring your food pantry donation and receive an American Flag. Items that they need most right now include canned fruits and vegetables and juice of any kind. The Jesup Memorial Library is sponsoring an online talk by Habib Dagher on large-scale 3D printing, mass timber and floating offshore wind on Wed July 8 at 7 pm. Under Dagher’s leadership, UMaine’s ASCC has installed the largest polymer 3D printer in the world to help print with wood-derived cellulosic materials and is researching methods to use mass timber as the primary load-bearing structure in tall buildings. Kids and their families are invited to come build a birdhouse at the Blue Hill Library on Fri July 10 at 10 am. Join interns from Holbrook Island Sanctuary outside in the library parking lot, where they will instruct kids how to assemble birdhouses designed for black-capped chickadees. Opera House Arts is offering drive-in movies at the Stonington ball field on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 8:45 throughout the summer, beginning July 10 with “The Call of the Wild,” a 2020 release based on the novel by Jack London. The Native American Festival and Basketmakers Market will be celebrating its 27th year online. Digital NAF will allow viewers to safely connect with participating artists to learn more about them and their work.
