Cans for Kids in Ellsworth
The City of Ellsworth asks you to donate your cans and bottles at the City transfer station with their “Cans for Kids” program. Proceeds go to the Emergency Assistance Fund, which supports the Backpacks for Kids and Holiday Gifts programs.

Next Step celebrates its 30th anniversary with an amateur logging sports competition at The Great Maine Lumberjack Show in Trenton. Registration starts at 9 am on Sunday, October 8th... and the competition runs from 10 to 2. There's a 30-dollar fee to participate on a team, but admission is free for spectators, with donations accepted. For more information, go to Next Step DV Project dot org.

Age Friendly Sullivan and Northern Light Health will once again be offering a vaccination clinic on Wednesday, October 11th, from 9 to Noon at the Sullivan Town Office. Participants can choose flue, covid, RSV or all three by registering online at age wise maine dot org.

The Ellsworth Garden Club invites the public to a presentation titled “Soil Health, Biodiversity, and Human Influence” given by Matthew Boucher, Ph.D., State Soil Scientist in the Division of Agricultural Resource Development, Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry. The program will be held Thursday, October 12th , at 7 pm at the Moore Community Center, 133 State St. in Ellsworth. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

The Cherryfield Academy Community Center will be having a Fall Fair on October 14th, 9 am to 3 pm. The center is located at 53 Main St in Cherryfield. Admission is free. There will be Artisans, Vendors, Silent Auction, Chowder & Soup Lunch, Quilt Raffle, A $5 - 50/50 Lucky Cluck Egg Drop and sponsorship sign up for the floor project. The event will be followed by a Cribbage sign up, of $5, at 4:00 p.m. Snacks available for purchase.

EEMS PTF is having a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 14 from 12p-3p, located at the Elementary Middle School. There will be a craft show, community partners, food trucks, cotton candy and popcorn, and hot and cold drinks. Plenty of activities for families, including face painting, field games, a pumpkin patch, craft stations, and more. No admission charge, and all money raised goes to support the PTF in supporting the school.

The Pine Tree Coin Club is hosting a Big Fall Coin Show on Sun, Oct 15 from 9 to 3 pm at the Black Bear Inn, 4 Godfrey Drive in Orono. Admission is $1, youth under 16 get in free. The Waltham-Eastbrook Youth Association is holding its 12th Annual Turkey Shoot fundraiser, every Sunday in October on Route 200 in Waltham. Shooting is at paper targets, with frozen turkeys going to the winners of each of the 15 events. It happens from 10 am to noon, and spectators are welcome. For more info, call 584-3000.
