A Fish Chowdah Supper is scheduled for Sat Aug 26 from 4-6 pm at the Prospect Harbor United Methodist Church.  Adults $10, Children 5 to 12 $5 and free for children under 5.

A Pot Roast Supper is happening at the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth,  2 Church Street, behind the police station.  This Saturday, August 26th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm  A pot roast supper with mashed potatoes, green beans, glazed carrots, Caesar salad, roll, coffee, tea or lemonade and homemade pie all for $10.00.  The church is handicap accessible from the state street entrance.  For more information please call Lois at 207-669-2028.

To help celebrate Recovery Month, Your Place Inc. (YPI) is holding a fundraising community yard sale on Saturday, September 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4 Old Mill Road (corner of Route 179 and Route 1A - Bangor Road). "The Downeast Saxophone Quartet" will perform on Sunday, September 10th at 3:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Cherryfield Academy Community Center. A chairlift is available if needed. The Quartet performs original arrangements of jazz, pop and original compositions. Suggested donation is $15 and will benefit "The Arts" Program Fund.

The City of Ellsworth is working to raise awareness for Cans for Kids, a donations-funded initiative to help local children in need. Donate your cans and bottles at the City Transfer Station or contact the General Assistance Office to coordinate a donation at City Hall. Proceeds go to the Emergency Assistance Fund, which supports the Backpacks for Kids and Holiday Gifts programs.

The Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is asking you to help them “Fill the Grand”! Just like lastyear, the goal is for the community to fill every seat in the Grand Theater with bags of foodand funds, to help end food insecurity in Hancock County. The Ark Animal Shelter is holding its “Fur Kids Fun Day” at the Ark Thrift Shop in Blue Hill onSaturday, September 16th. They'll have an agility demo, face painting, doggie games withprizes, and food trucks. A special feature is the kissing booth: with an affectionate dog givingsmooches. Everyone's invited to join the fun between noon and 4 pm.
