Next Step Domestic Violence Project will hold a tree lighting ceremony on Thur Oct 18 at 6:15 in Knowlton Park in Ellsworth. This ceremony honors and remembers the victims and survivors they have worked with over the past 25 years. At 6:45 they will gather for a reception at the Moore Community Center in Ellsworth to Commemorate 25 years of working in Hancock County. The reception will be immediately followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dorathy Martel, Next Step Executive Director. Panel members include two domestic violence survivors; Hancock County Sheriff Scott Kane; immediate past Executive Director Laurie Fogelman; and two women who, in 1993, helped start domestic violence services in Hancock County. The topic for discussion is, Domestic Violence in Hancock County: Where Are We Now? These events are free and open to the public. Donations gladly welcomed.
